I can’t imagine there are many people that are excited about trading a BMW M Sport for a Citroen van…That is where I currently find myself and I’m genuinely excited! Don’t get me wrong the BMW is a lovely car, but it just isn’t practical for what I am now doing. What getting a van will give B1G1HP is flexibility and with so much uncertainty with Brexit and the doom and gloom on our high streets, it could be that flexibility that allows B1G1HP to take some market share and establish ourselves. I’ve been chomping at the bit for months to get rid of the BMW, but the numbers didn’t work and now they do, I can’t get rid quick enough.
The BMW is just one example of many personal sacrifices I have had to make to reduce my personal outgoings and to survive on as little as possible, so I can take as little out of the business to keep it alive and kicking. My Sky Sports has gone, my gym membership has gone, and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a night out, but it’s all good because building B1G1HP and overcoming the challenges that come with it is what gives me oxygen.
As I mentioned in my fundraising blog post a few weeks back I do a lot of running when time allows it. What running does for me is help me in mind, body and spirit. There are so many times when training for a half marathon and the weather is as hot as it’s been lately that the body wants to stop because of the pain or just general exhaustion from the heat, but my mind doesn’t allow me to stop and I keep pushing and pushing until I’ve achieved what I set out to achieve. I apply the same mental attitude to B1G1HP, it’s all about mind over matter and on that note keep your eyes peeled for a black Citroen van cruising around the North West!
